St. George Marathon

I am so proud of my husband... so I am now going to brag about him. We are currently in St. George, UT. We came up so Mike could run in the Marathon. We got up this morning at three so we could drop him off at the buses at 4 am. This is the pre-race, four AM Mike... It was overcast when I dropped him off... but it soon was raining. I was worried that he had to run in the rain.. but he actually liked the rain because it kept him cool. Mike was hoping to qualify for Boston on this race. I knew he was going to really push himself so I was extra nervous for him. Most of Mike's family came to watch him cross the finish line. I also had some of my family there as well. He had a nice cheering section. Here are some pictures of the cheering section before he finished.
My parents, Shelley, and my Nephew all soaked after sitting in the rain waiting.

Mike's parents

Looking towards Mike's family. He had his parents, his sister Heather and her girlfriend Julia, and also his nephew Aaron.

In order for Mike to qualify for Boston, he had to run it in 3:10:55. His unofficial time (we don't have the official time yet) was 3:12:05. He missed it by mere minutes. We are still waiting for the official time, but sadly he didn't qualify. He did get a personal record though. That was an improvement of 6 minutes from the Provo Marathon. It was a huge improvement from St. George last year (he finished 3:35:35). I am very proud of him!! I have no doubt that he will qualify next year. Boston 2010... Here we come!!!
