I just wanted to take this moment to wish everyone a happy 1st of Octubre. For those of you unfortunate souls that grew up without the joys of this wondrous holiday... I will explain how it works.
Pretty much the point of this holiday is that you give each other weird, useless gifts. for example... I think one year a burned out light bulb was given. Now where did this dysfunctional yet fun holiday come from you ask?? From the brilliant mind of Shannon and Missy back in the 8th grade.
You see... Shannon and I were the best of buds. We were inseparable. In 8th grade we decided that the first day of Octubre (October in Spanish although I am sure the spelling is wrong) felt like it needed to be a holiday. So we created one. Thru the years we have managed to remember (at least for the most part). Even when me and Shannon lost each other for those few horrible years... I still remember. I even taught my cousins all about the holiday hoping they could fill the void Shannon had left behind. My cousins thought I was odd... but they humored me.
So today is that wondrous of days. I am proud to say that not only is this holiday shared by Shannon and I... but it has made an impact in a few other people as well... like Cassie. I was so proud to get that text msg from Cassie this morning wishing me a happy first of octubre. I was so excited she remembered! It brings a tear to my eye to know that others can also share in the joy of this quirky holiday.
So to you all I must say.... HAPPY 1ST OF OCTUBRE!!!!

That's awesome, Happy Octubre to you too.
P.S. You spelled it right :0
Ahh HAHAHAHAHAHA! It is so amazing how we still remember! For reals, I was so sad when you text me first because I actually remembered the day of! I was sitting at my desk and looked at the date and was like "October 1st. 1st of October. Octubre. First of Octubre!" And then my brain went somewhere else.
Anyway, I have so many fun memories with you! We had some good times :)
How could I forget about your holiday! Every year I think of you on that day :) I never knew what it was about though so now I know ;)
