Not Much to Blog about

Not too much has been going on lately. Yesterday I spent over at Linda's house. My parents, Shelley, and Kristy were over there.. as well as some of my nieces and nephews. We made some of Grandma Bones butter mints. The first batch didn't turn out. I had never pulled mints before and I had no idea you couldn't stop (even for one tenths of a second) or it all turns to sugar. I stopped for not even a full second and the next thing I know.... its a ball of sugar breaking up and falling all over the counter. It was crazy how fast it turned to sugar. It was like magic! Eventually my Mom's and Linda's also turned to sugar... so we figured that batch was a flop. We tried to melt that batch down but that didn't work. We had divided the batch up into thirds, and had all turned ours different colors, so when we tried to melt them down it turned into a horrible brown color with chunks of sugar that wouldn't melt. It seriously looked like barf.

Then we started all over with another batch. This time we had cooled the tile slabs a bit too much so it turned hard really fast and was hard to get off the tile. I couldn't get all of mine off the tile so I got what i could. It was really hard to pull. My arms were killing me. I finally gave up and cut mine into little pieces and let them sit. Linda and my mom were able to pull theirs longer but interestingly enough... mine turned out the best. Kristy had tried to salvage what I had left on the marble slab but it turned to sugar on her. It was funny because it looked all stringy just like stringed cheese. It was good to eat though.

It was nice spending time with the family. I always love getting together with everyone. After hanging with the family, I went with Mikal to go purchase some Crager wheels from a guy on KSL. Now I have wheels and tires for my '67! If you want to see pictures... you can view them on my mustang blog which is at http://www.melissasmustang.blogspot.com/

My parents spent the night at my house last night. We all sat at the dinning room table with our laptop computers out (like we always do) and chatted. It was nice. We ended up staying up pretty late talking. Anyways, my parents left bright and early this morning to go back to St. George.

Today Mike and I went out and washed our cars. This was the first time I washed my car since last June when I managed to crack the windshield. I am now very hesitant to use a garden hose on my windshield, especially since I just had it replaced. We have a bunch of car cleaners we got for free from the Park City Car show last year so we pulled those out. My car is shiny, but not as nice as it could be. The problem is that the paint is faded so it will never look as shiny has most cars. I also vacuumed out the inside and used some cleaners on the dash. I am happy to say I finally got out the confetti from our wedding last September. They had filled the car with confetti when they trashed it. I just never got around to vacuuming it out... but now it is gone! Woohoo! I am sure there is still some more lurking in some nook and cranny somewhere, so I am sure I haven't seen the last of it. The car looks decent though. I have been needing to wash it. Actually I took it thru a car was last week (I got a free car wash when I had emissions and inspections done). We drove thru the car wash and got out to inspect the car... and you couldn't tell we had even done anything to it. It was still dirty as could be.

Just a side note... Mike has been out there working on his '86 which has been parked for the last few months. He replaced the tires and has been cleaning it out while I was in here blogging. So I just looked out the window and watched him hitting the filter on the shop vac trying to get rid of some of the dust and dirt on it. Well wouldn't you know he was doing that right behind my car and the wind was blowing all the dust onto my nicely cleaned car. Well at least it looked clean for an hour before that got all messed up!

Other than that, not much else is going on. Tonight we are going to a BBQ that Mikes work is putting on for employees and families. That should be fun. After the BBQ we are hoping to spend some time out in the garage working on the '67. I am so anxious for that car to get done! Well until next time (which will probably be next weekend)... P.S. Never fails, the time I state right at the beginning that I dont have much to say... I end up doing a huge blog entry by the time I am done. I guess I am just good at talking about nothing.
