Catching up

I am behind on blogging. So a lot happened this weekend. I finally managed to find a home for the McCaw rock. It has been propped up by our phone book for over a year.
I finally mad a setting for him and placed him in our living room. I am pleased with how it all turned out. I am glad to finally have a place for him to sit in our house where he looks good and will get noticed. I am really fond of this rock.

I also made a dog bed for Mikes Bull dog. It was just laying on a blanket before but I decided a bed would look much nicer. I didn't even notice it till now that there is a dog bone siting by him. We have dog bones scattered all over this house.

Sunday morning was a sad morning. Our parakeet died. I was making waffles and heard a thump. I looked over and he was at the bottom of the cage struggling to get up. He maybe lasted a half hour after that before he was gone. I didn't realize it at the time... but a couple weeks ago I noticed things were off with him.. I feel bad that he was sick and I didn't think to take him to a vet. I feel horrible now realizing I didn't have a single picture of him. I really didn't think it would hit me so hard losing that bird. He wasn't very friendly, but I still kinda liked him. So Mike buried him in the back yard. I couldn't stand an empty cage so I disinfected it and we went and got these cuties...

We found a guy selling them in West Valley. They are hand tame and are babies. We wanted to make sure to get hand tamed birds so we could handle them and could train them. We also asked for Males because we would like to teach them to talk. For some reason, only Males tend to talk. so hopefully the guy was right and these are males. I guess we will see.

We originally were only going to get one... but I convinced Mike we should get two. So the lighter one is mine... and the darker one is Mikes. They are way cute. I am glad we got two, they are siblings so it has to be nice for them to have each other. They are fun. I have big plans for the things I want to teach my bird. Oh and I still haven't thought of a name.... but we will see what happens.
