Yesterday was one of those days that you are reminded of what you have. Mike was in a car accident yesterday. Both cars were totaled but no one was seriously injured. I left work and got to the accident scene right as the tow trucks were arriving. In fact, I drove beside one of the tow trucks most of the way from my work to the accident. Mike was really shaken up but escaped with only a few cuts and bruises. His poor SUV wasn't so lucky. It's sad seeing the SUV crumpled up like that. It has been a good vehicle.
I am glad Mike was ok. I am also glad I could be there for him yesterday. We tried to stay busy most of the day in between trying to figure out insurance stuff and getting the SUV towed to our house. We went and walked a couple of laps around Sugar House Park which was nice. It was good to be able to walk and just chat about things and about life. I also think it helped Mike calm down a bit.
We also picked up Italian Village and cuddled on the couch watching TV. We haven't had a good cuddle day like this in a month! He has been so busy working on my '67 that I haven't gotten to spend much time with him. I got plenty of time with him yesterday and I loved every minute I was able to spend with him.
So we decided to put the car restoration on hold. We were trying to have it done by April 23rd but financially there is too much going on right now. It sucks to be so close to having it done and hitting a road block like this, but I am ok with it. I am just glad to have the car. I know someday it will be finished. Right now though, I want to focus on spending all the time I can with Mike. I am so glad to have him in my life and would choose him over the car any day.
So even though I sometimes want to just fall into the pit of despair... I am trying to stay positive and cherish the people in my life. You never know how long you have with them before they are gone.
