Today was a fun day. I went and looked at a house in Sandy with Linda. They are thinking of renting it. It was nice being able to go out and about with Linda. Plus she actually wanted to know what I thought of the house.
I then had to go to court. Mike and I had been subpoenaed due to the hit and run involving my car. For those of you that don't know, I had a very unlucky (although it turned into a good thing) streak in the beginning of June. I first got rear ended by a truck, then the next day at the collision shop, some guy backed into my car and left. Luckily they had it all on video, and the guy had just been in for an estimate on his car so they had his info. I didn't get anything from this guys insurance because they claimed Geico had already totaled my car, but oh well. I did get a pay off from Geico and the first guy that hit me so I was able to pay off my car and buy another car paying cash. So I got rid of my car payment earlier than I would have. It was sad seeing my car all hurt though.
Off Mike and I went to the South Salt Lake Courthouse. I was nervous because I am scared of Judges (thanks to Judge Judy... that lady is mean!). We went in and ended up going back out with the prosecutor to discuss the case before the trial began. He said he was feeling sorry for the guy and was thinking of doing a lesser charge. The guy was freaked out because if he got a misdemeanor, he would lose his Realtor license. The prosecutor wanted to know our feelings. I told him that I was fine with it. We then went back to the courtroom and watched the Collision Center employee go back to talk to the prosecutor. He came out and the prosecutor then asked the hit and run guy to go talk to him. They both came out a few minutes later and the prosecutor announced that they were doing the lesser charge so we were all welcome to go home. The hit and run guy seemed nice. He apologized for getting us all subpoenaed and seemed like a nice guy. Mike thought he seemed cocky.
The good part of it all was that Mike and I both got a check for $18.50 for being a witness (although all we didn't actually had to do a trial or anything like that). I think even if the guy knew he hit my car... at least he would have learned his lesson since he had to face the courts and the possibility of losing his Realtor License. I am fine with how it went down. I was not looking forward to being sworn in and having talk in front of a room full of people.
Well am I going to head to bed. I am a little bit depressed (hence the title). I am not sure why I am. I have no reason to be. Christmas is coming (and the goose is getting fat j/k), and I have a good life. I think it is just the Winter Blues. I seem to get depressed often during the winter. I am really not in the Christmas Spirit at all yet. I was for about a week... then I got over it. Hopefully I will get more into the closer we get to Christmas though. I guess we will see.
